I tend to think a number of folks here has had one Rick which they probably let go of because A) You were stupid B) You needed the cash C) You didn't like it then, but would now D) You didn't know how good it really was when you had it. E) You have no idea why. C and D are somewhat of an overlap, but I'll leave that to the nitpickers. Basses are included. Do bass players even read this topic?
What's the one you would like to have back? Even if it went to another Forum member. Sure, some of you may have many you disposed of for one reason or the other, but lighten the load and just tell us about one.

I'd like to have my old '74 4001 MG back. I had to sell it for financial reasons (and I'm sure it would have suffered greatly living in a travel trailer for 7 years in the mountains of Idaho, I know we sure did ). I no longer have the serial number, but I'd know it if I saw it. And, unless it was thoroughly trashed, I'd buy it back...

`79 JG 4001; my first Rick ever; let go in a 3 way trade that I really didn't need to do, but agreed to because I was nice;

A friend of mine got my 4001, the bassist in my band got a xlucent cherry red ES 335 body style Vox bass, and I got cash from the bassist in my band.

D-U-M-B!

My friend later traded the 4001 for a Fender Performer bass I know, I know, I already said it; D-U-M-B!

I can't even look for the bass because I never bothered to write down the serial number, at least anywhere that I can find.

The only Rickenbacker that I have ever sold was a 1980 4003S, FG. I can't say I miss it because I haven't played bass in a band since 1989. Although it was the first Rickenbacker that I ever bought, I don't think that I'd want it back. I know the guy who bought it and he didn't take very good care of it. also, to be honest, the bass was kind of a dog.

Don't want to rub it in but I took it to a jam late last year and one guy said it was the most beautiful guitar he'd ever seen!!

My very first Rickenbacker. I was playing in a band in Miami and we did lots of Beatles,Byrds,Petty, etc. so I bought
myself a beautiful 360/12 WB MG. This was about 1989 so it was probably an early 80s model. I got frustrated keeping it
in tune ( we did a lot of outdoor gigs in So Fla and the humidity is killer ) so I sold it to Raul Malo of the Mavericks ( Mavericks
bass player Bobby Reynolds was our lead guitarist/singer ). That guitar won them a Grammy with "Crying Shame". It's probably
in a display case somewhere right about now.

great story craig!!! i guess the ric i would like to have back is the 75 360/6fg with a bigsby that guitar had the best neck i have ever put my hands around.

Purchased a new Roger McGuinn 370/12 MapleGlo from Lloyd at Voltage Guitar in 1988 for around $1300. It took 10 days to get and I thought that was a long time! (I mean gee, their just down the road in Santa Ana, why so long?) Two years later I move out of state and sell the RM for $1200. just because I'm not playing it that much and I have other guitars and it's one less thing to move. Yeah, I know.

The one that I miss the most is the 650C MG VH that I sold to Steve Wood. I know it's in good hands, but I really miss it. I sold it just to cull the herd. I had way too many guitars at the time and I was trying to be "ruthless" about what I kept and what I let go. Sometimes it just has to be done, you know?

I console myself occasionally by imagining what the replacement for the discontinued 650 models might look like. I think I'll be first in line if they ever do get released, particularly if there's a vibrato option.

A few years ago I won a 380L PZ on ebay for about 1100 bucks, and I flaked. Don't know why.
I still would like to have one.

I sold my 4001JG, don't know the year, but I bought it used in the early/mid '70's. CB, FWI. Sold it in the early '80's.

I still kick myself for selling my 370-12 SPC in fireglo. It was one of the first McGuinn overruns ever produced. I've owned/sold 4 or 5 since then, but none of them played as well as that one.

I traded my 360/12CW to Paul (Jingle Jangle) for another guitar that I wanted. It hurts, but I never played it because I was too scared of damaging it. Never even changed the strings. I wish I could have afforded just to keep it under my bed forever, but alas it wasn't meant to be.

I seem to recall that the guy who sold me the 360/12 WB MG that I had said he got it in Florida. It was an 81 as I recall. Could it be the same one? It is now in upstate NY with a forumite.

our lead singer/guitarist. Life is funny......he was always borrowing money so he could get a cheeseburger at a lot of our gigs.....he
was always late, we used to have to go roust him out of bed and carry him to the gigs. He ended up marrying ( then divorcing ) Trisha
Yearwood ( that was a GREAT wedding ) and winning a couple Grammys and CMA awards ( neither of which I have ).
