Oh....And Hi!!
Jumped the gun with my enquiries about the 4004's yesterday...
Forgot to just say hi to everyone here and introduce myself!
I am over in the south-east of England, been playing bass for about 17 years (and drums for a little longer).
Always promised myself a Ric, the bass of my dreams, when the chance would come. Now, I'm feeling very lucky to have two 4003's - a 2003 FG and a 2008 MB. Now I just need the '04 to complete my set.
I know I'm talking to the converted here, but compared to every other bass....there is no comparison. I really think that they not only play the best, but just look like true works of art to me! When I got both, I just couldn't stop staring at them and believing they were actually mine!!
I've been reading loads on here, and brushing up my knowledge. We are really Ric-starved here in the UK, and I'm always really proud when playing mine live. Never fails to draw attention!
Look forward to learning more, and hopefully giving something back as well.

Welcome aboard! Always good to have some new folks around!
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: Oh....And Hi!!
welcome, iain! hmmm....it doesn't seem fair that ricks should be scarce in the country where all the famous rick bass users are from!
re the 4004,it's a reinvention of the classic 4000 series, and the new ones flooding the market now have been spectacular, hopefully some will be coming to blighty!
Re: Oh....And Hi!!
Yup, that would 'splain it. Nice website Graham!

Welcome Iain,
Sounds like you are close to my old neck of the woods, Kent.
Most people here never truly understand the picture back there...and that's before you get into wanting parts etc...
Enjoy those basses, and keep looking for the next one. If ever you want anything bought over from the States, let me know. I get home a couple of times a year and would be glad to help out...

G'day Iain, and welcome!
It's great to have a denizen of the lovely South-East on board - one of my favourite paces one earth. I don't know why people look at me strangely when I say that.....
As for the wish to "complete the set", watch out for that Ric Acquisition Syndrome...it's a killer ...on the wallet, amongst other things! You'll probably be after a C64, or a 4001CS, or a V63, or a 4005 before you can snap your fingers!

Welcome Iain. It is always nice to hear from the UK. I hope you avoid the flooding this spring. Keep your Rickenbackers up.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Welcome Iain from the north.
Re: Oh....And Hi!!
Welcome Iain. I'm in York! I know what you mean about owning a Rickenbacker. I have a fairly beat up looking 1975 4001 but I still can't believe I actually own a Rick - and I've had it since 1990! If I ever have the money spare for another bass that will be a Rickenbacker too. It's curious how a Rickenbacker becomes part of your very essence as a musician.
