It's a great bass, lots of mwah and growl!!

Now we need some 4003 basses from 2007 to see about the new necks, how they compare to the old style 4003
Interesting. Do we have some statistics that reveal the difference between the two?

Thanks for the addition, Robert. Your '07 neck is like my '04 neck.

OK, here are a couple more. I'd forgotten about this, I should have measured my 2009 4003 while I had it...

Anyway, my '76 4001 AG & '84 4003 MG:
Measurements are in cm

Girth: '76 '84
1st: 11.139 11.679
3rd: 11.653 11.965
12th: 13.203 13.324

Front to Back:
'76 '84
1st: 2.419 2.475
7th: 2.350 2.428
12th: 2.400 2.456
16th: 2.465 2.428

Width: '76 '84
Nut: 4.200 4.249
12th: 5.320 5.363
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Thread resurrected!

Always good to see more data in here, CJ.

But in order to compare, we need to all measure the same way. All of the data collected thus far were measured using a vinyl tape measure (or some used a string and then stretched it out on top of a ruler) just in front of the first, third, and twelfth frets. Wrap it all the way around the neck under the strings tightly please.

Rock on!

EDIT: Oh, I get it. Looks like that's what you did in your first group of numbers there. Never mind!

Thanks. I was just browsing around and was happy to come across something I could actually contribute to. :)
