Dhani Harrison on Conan Tonight

Post by stringsncords »

Dhani Harrison (George's son) is announced to be a guest on Late Night With Conan O'Brien tonight (Feb 16th).

Dhani's band is called thenewno2. I'm not sure if he's a Rick player, but his dad was pretty good...!

Thanks for the post and the information. I'm enjoying his music right now. Here's their My Space Page: http://www.myspace.com/thenewno2

No Rickenbackers; Dhani seems to favor Stratocasters, at least in for live work. There are a few shots of him playing Tobacco Sunburst Epiphone. I can see why he might not play a Rick live; it might be a bit too iconic and evocative of his dad's image-one of the most iconic guitars around matched with his strong resemblance to George. There is a shot of him playing "Rocky" or a Rocky replica-I tend to believe it's the former, but that guitar is not nearly as iconic as a Rickenbacker would be in the hands of Dhani. I imagine he might have at least one or two for studio work. :D

Sorry about the last-minute post from last night; hopefully, more of us saw the show than the ones who managed to read the post. Dhani looked small next to Conan, who is somewhere around 6'5. The band gave a high energy performance, and it's amazing how Dhani looks and sounds so much like George - long, straight hair much like George's Abbey Road days - and he did a very respectable job on vocal and lead guitar (Strat).

Very cool to see another Beatle heir in the music business! Check out the MySpace page that Paul forwarded - you'll enjoy it.

"Beatle Heir" -- great name for a band!

(Could be some copyright/tradename issues, though . . . )

Could possibly be a Petty limited edition, too?

Quote from Wiki - so it must be true:

"He collaborated with Jakob Dylan on the John Lennon song, "Gimme Some Truth," for the Lennon tribute album, "Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur", which was released on 12 June 2007."
