Will there be a Rickenbacker Accoustic Bass?
I've recently become interested in accoustic basses. With the recent resurgence in Rickenbacker accoustic guitar production, can we expect to see an accoustic bass in the product line within the next year?
Greg: A very interesting idea. I have heard nothing about such an idea and would expect, given the plans for the C Series that an acoustic bass is likely out of the running. Also, I am not sure whether such an instrument would be viable for RIC. Maybe John Hall will stop by at some point and address your question. What sort of design would you like to see?

Something along the Jazzbo lines in styling and finish, with a slightly bigger sound chamber towards the bridge side of the body, as on the Comstock. 34" scale, with the cutaway, as on the Jazzbo, for upper register access. Mahogany sides, maybe. Upscale onboard Fishman preamp/piezo pickup. I agree that it might not be a viable product line, judging by the lack of responses to this post. And that's OK, because Tacoma and Taylor--among others--make some fine acoustic basses right now.
Greg: I see what you are getting at. I must say that a Jazzbo bass would be very nice, just one drawback should it go to production, it would be big dollars I am sure?

Gentlemen:
Since we are fantasizing, why not a RIC acoustic bass similar in body style of the old 4005's, albiet with more depth to the body?
In other words the Comstock's thickness with the 4005's curves.
Colour options could include Maple-glow, Jet Glow Midnight Blue & Dessert Gold. Could you imagine one of these babies in a Dessert Glow with a chequered binding?!?
Thanks again for allowing me the privledge to contribute to this forum.
