West Coast Tour

Post by just_bassics »

Tomorrow Yes will embark on the West Coast leg of the "In The Present" tour. As usual, the best and most recent tour information can be found here:
http://www.yesworld.com/ywtour.html
My wife and I are planning on getting out west for a little sun and to catch one more show before this tour (hopefully) moves on to Europe and beyond. Hope some of you will take advantage of the opportunity to see Chris and his RM (among others) in action.

I'm going to be at the concert in Denver! I've never seen Chris play his Ric live (or Steve Howe play for that matter), so I figured I'd better pull the trigger now.

This is a nice article from the Rocky Mountain News today about the current band and tour, mainly talking about how Oliver Wakeman (nice name!) is filling in for his father:
http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2 ... n-for-dad/

The major error in the article states that Rick Wakeman was a founding member, but that isn't correct.

There was also a picture in the print editon, but they tend to leave those out of the on-line versions.

Also, the Rocky Mountain News may be nearing the end. The owner was looking to sell the paper due to heavy losses, and the mid-January deadline has passed with no news. I'll miss it if it goes, as I'm a die hard newspaper person (I'm 46) and I prefer it to the Denver Post. I'd be surprised to see it around past early March if no buyer is found.

Alas, younger people get everything on-line and Craig's List has done a number on classified ad revenue. I think the days of the newspaper are numbered, at least this kind of newspaper. I remember having to read the paper a few times a week in social studies class when I was 14 years old, but I doubt that kids have to do that now.

Yesworld just posted, as I suspected, that the remainder of the West Coast tour has been cancelled. A real pity, since the first leg of the tour was so enjoyable, but here's wishing Chris, Scotty and the entire family a speedy recovery from the roller coaster of events which began on December 19th with the early arrival of Xilan Squire.

To the Squires, All the Best! We hope to see you back on the road soon!

Thanks for the update Jim. I was wondering how Chris and his daughter are. You have just answered my question at least in part.

Who cares about the tour - a full recovery for Chris and strength and health for Xilan are what is important. Best wishes to the Squires.

Perfectly said John.

I consider myself a very lucky man, but Chris' health is first and foremost. Trying to look at the positive aspect, at least he will be staying close to home to be with Xilan & Scotty.

Family first.

This is posted on the yesworld website

"Chris underwent surgery on his leg on February 11, 2009. The operation was successful and Chris is on his way to a full recovery. However, Chris has been advised by his physician that he needs a one month rest period, hence the reason for the cancellation of the rest of the tour dates." :(

I was lucky to see them here in Maryland last year I feel bad for the west coast fans that won't see this tour my gut feeling is Yes will return with Jon anderson sometime later this year.

My Grandfather had a clot in his leg, and it traveled to the brain and caused a stroke. He never walked again, and was mentally childlike after, so this is great news about Chris. Granted medicine has progressed from the early 1970s, but this is indeed good news. Rest and recoup, Chris! Enjoy the time with family.
