Marc, I agree, the seller does seem very nice and very honest about the instrument. Its looking very very tempting I must say (although I still don't like the idea of bidding against a fellow Forum-eer). Interesting that the V63 on UK e-bay doesn't seem to be attracting a lot of interest; despite what the guy wants, if it was fireglo I'd be tempted, but it's not. So if I can get a fireglo cheaper from the US, obviously I'm going to go with that. We'll see. I totally agree about shipping; I would only use a tracked system this time. Last time I was a bit of a newbie and didn't know about such things; talk about learning the hard way!

May I ask, what is the protocol on this? There seems to be a few members of this forum interested, myself included, tho I haven't bid. Do other forumites defer to the first to declare himself interested, or is it a free for all brawl? Seriously, is it impolite to bid against another member?

I guess it depends how serious you are and whether or not you are ready to incur the wrath (not Rath) of said Forum member. Image

What if the member is outbid by a stranger, and you would otherwise have won the auction? Not to mention, what if the member has enough basses already? I think all has to be fair in bidding. It should be business, nothing personal.

I didn't place a bid. In fact, it's a bit embarrassing but I haven't even registered to ebay yet. So again, good luck to ya all!

Good luck.

The way I see it, there is no need to refrain from bidding when another forum member has already placed a bid; UNLESS this forum member has posted a request for others not to step on his toes. In this case I would step aside. This way we can all have our turn and get our basses for good prices without getting into bidding wars with other forum members.

A similar thing has happened to me a while ago in the 'Pit, when I found my Shadow for $750 on CraigsList.com and posted about it there to get some advice. This was enough, and the seller didn't get any other offers. I appreciate this kind of gallant behavior, and will not knowingly bid against another forum member (this and other forums) if this member really wants the bass.

LOL Jared... yes that was a steal. But here's a better one. Over at the 'Pit, a guy recently got a white Mouradian on eBay for $455. No one bid against him.

I have no problems with someone bidding against me,as I said before, all is fair in love and Rickenbackers.

I want it only if i can pay my price. Outbid and it's yours.

This is one of the things that still bothers me too. What if two (or more) members want the bass but one of them just ends up driving up the price for the other? In theory if you've decided on your max bid then this shouldn't happen, but it could. That'd be terrible. I still haven't bid by the way, although I'm still sorely tempted. I guess if I do decide to bid, at least Marc feels ok about it!
