Sirius/XM will survive and most commecial stations will as well. However, their niche is getting tighter and tigher. Revenues continue to shrink.
Likely someone else will pick up some of what you like in your market.
Acutally, I'm 24 y/o

Guess I don't buy into my own demographic......but everyone else is right, after the sirius/xm merger- things turned much worse.

+1000 KCRW just moved into my #1 spot. Just a great station. I think NPR is good, though the news is on way too long. The music programs....Morning becomes Eclectic and Weekend becomes Eclectic----are second to none.

Collin, you're just one of the more tuned-in (so to speak) radio listeners. :D Sirius/XM will likely continue to cut programs. They just can't afford it all. Howard is getting a big chunk of thier change.

Right you are, Jeff. Aitch, uh, Stern, needs to find his way back to commecial radio or maybe on CB.

How does 80 mil a year plus 200 million in bonus money sound? That's Howards take so far.

Plus, Sirius and XM merged to cover both their tails. Launching a huge satellite into space cost some serious coinage.....though they promised no commercials initially, they slowly added "XM approved" commercial spots in to sell to their customers. Couple that with the loss of channels during the merge, and it's just not worth it anymore.

Two debt-loaded corporations merge to become--one corporation with twice the debt. I don't see anyway to survive for them with their current business model--there's not enough revenue and little hope of the kind of expansion needed to maintain it. Something will give or they will go under, Watch for a big change soon.

And I still can't get a reliable signal in my Miata. The bracket sits on the dash, mocking me...

Too true. They'll be around, but likely only as a shell of their former selves. XM/Sirius still have a billion dollar debt on the table this year, and an additional 3 billion due over the next four years. This even after their recent 'minor' bailout.
