George Gruhn needs a lesson!

Post by jps »

I am reading an interview with George in the March '09 issue of Vintage Guitar magazine at the moment. There is a part where he talks about the characteristics of various guitars where he says: "Rickenbackers are fine for effects, but you certainly wouldn't do well playing blues on it."

Hmm........

Maybe he needs to see some video of Gatemouth playing a Capri?

And...oh wait, bloody "G" string dropping out of tune-new strings-I'd just gotten the guitar back from the luthier the day before-some more!

We need to invite George to come visit our Blues and our Artists' sections, which are full of good examples to educate him.

George is no dummy, and visits the RIC booth at NAMM every year once or twice. He says what he thinks his customers want to hear, that's all.

You can read all about that, too, in the VG interview.

He needs to see some of the vids on YT of people playing blues on 300-series guitars. Good stuff.

I hope I'll see some of this image problem killed some day... I wrote a letter to Bass Player because I kept noticing they always associate Rickenbacker references with prog. Drives me nuts!
