George Gruhn needs a lesson!
I am reading an interview with George in the March '09 issue of Vintage Guitar magazine at the moment. There is a part where he talks about the characteristics of various guitars where he says: "Rickenbackers are fine for effects, but you certainly wouldn't do well playing blues on it."
Hmm........

Maybe he needs to see some video of Gatemouth playing a Capri?

Re: George Gruhn needs a lesson!
We need to invite George to come visit our Blues and our Artists' sections, which are full of good examples to educate him.

George is no dummy, and visits the RIC booth at NAMM every year once or twice. He says what he thinks his customers want to hear, that's all.

I've met George. He's a different kind of guy.

In fact, he looks an awful lot like Paul does currently in his avatar.cheyenne wrote:I've met George. He's a different kind of guy.

Yeah, that's what I thought, too. He certainly loves his snakes.cheyenne wrote:I've met George. He's a different kind of guy.

Re: George Gruhn needs a lesson!
yeah i was reading a review in bass player magazine about the latest (roland?) supergear modeller, and the review refers to a a rick bass setting as getting that "prog-rock snarl"......of course the machine may be set up for just that one sound labelled as rickbass......
Re: George Gruhn needs a lesson!
You can read all about that, too, in the VG interview.rick_ovic wrote:He certainly loves his snakes.

Re: George Gruhn needs a lesson!
He needs to see some of the vids on YT of people playing blues on 300-series guitars. Good stuff.
I hope I'll see some of this image problem killed some day... I wrote a letter to Bass Player because I kept noticing they always associate Rickenbacker references with prog. Drives me nuts!
