Cool. I guess we wait. Kinda like Christmas - except you don't know when Christmas is.RIC_FACTORY wrote:I assure you, there are no plans to discontinue the 4004's.

Eh? Between the v63, CS, and c64, how many times do we need to go down that path? What will be different next time?ben_brown wrote:I was thinking the same thing Jake!JakeK wrote:How about a reissue of the Rose Morris 1999? That's the only logical explination I could see to replacing the C64...

Re: Be prepared to flip out!!!
The 4002 was so far ahead of its time. Think about it... technology has really caught up with it... and now it's time for it to rise again and strike down the unbelievers! Waa haa haaaaaaa...

Re: Be prepared to flip out!!!!
If Ben says we'll flip out, then he's probably bassing that on something he's seen requested/missed/discussed here often. That would seem to leave out any RM1999/4001 variant. I think that narrows it down to a 4002 or 4005 reissue. As much as JH has said that he hates the 4005, that would leave a new 4002 as the only possibility. Then again, JH could have been blowing a smoke screen for the last couple years while planning a 4005 reissue. A 1957 4000 reissue would please some, but since it had further refinement to go, I don't think it would be as good a bass as any 4001/4003 from the past 45 years. Well that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
Re: Be prepared to flip out!!!
i'm sure any reissue of an older instrument would have the refinements included on most modern 4000 series,i.e.,the newer rod system,......oh wait, what other newer refinements are there, again? the orig had the one peice neck through already, and i suppose a 2nd pickup could be incorporated into the older style pickguard just as easily,if a 2nd pickup really was thought to be necessary.....i wouldn't really mind if the neck was made of maple instead of walnut....just fantasizing out loud here.....
......oh,and i am talkin' bout the v57 4000 ultimate woody fantasy bass....i also like the abm bridge.
Re: Be prepared to flip out!!!
Woody, your 4004 would be a good candidate for a '57 cosmetic conversion. I almost did it to mine.
Re: Be prepared to flip out!!!
I might be crazy, but I really cant see them tossing the horshoe pickup out the window. (they've spent to much time protecting the design right?) I would think anything new would be a reissue that includes the horseshoe.
Unless of course they plan on offering some interesting options? Hmmm.........

Even something as mundane as adding the Horseshoe to the boutique would make for much rejoicing and not significantly impact the backlog.
