Oh yeah; I have a pile of other stuff in the stable as well; Fenders, Gretsches, and Voxes, as well a a solitary Silvertone with the amp in the case.

Play on, pick often, jam with any Rickenbacker, and prosper.

Bump! I've gotten a few non-Ricks over the past few months that have been hogging up most of my attention:

Fender Classic Players Strat 60's Reissue:

I have long avoided the (to paraphrase Paul W) bellybutton guitar to end all bellybutton guitars, but this one changed my mind. A neck designed by the custom shop, '69 pickups, and a gorgeous Sonic Blue finish have made this one hard to put down. Nobody who plays it can believe it's MIM! With Fender's recent price increase, this guitar now costs around $1,100, I got this one used around Christmas time for $550 - deals may still be able to be had.

Mosrite '65 Ventures Reissue (Excellent-made):

Anyone who came into contact with me at NAMM was probably subjected to my Mosrite gushing. I played them for the first time at the show and was totally blown away. They all sold out at NAMM save for one, which I would have come with if I'd had the cash on me (was ready to buy with credit card in hand!).

A week later, I got this Pearl White reissue, circa 2002 or so. This is one of the "Excellent" reissues, which as I understand it is one of the many companies that have had the license to build authentic Mosrites over the past few years, and are among the best.

The vibrato is the shining feature of this. If you've sworn off of clunky Bigsbys and finicky Strat "tremolos", Mosrite's vibrato system will make a believer out of you. They have smooth action, wonderful tone, and astounding tuning stability! I find myself using it often - perhaps too much. They lack sustain but boast a wonderful twang. I hear they can do surf pretty well too. :D

I think the MIM Strats play and sound much better than the Standard Americans these days. Cool guitars!
