My, umm, other pet ...

Post by kiramdear »

This is really one of the Others, but now a short journey from Rickenland to the Forests and Wetlands of Asia:

My Pancho is a Fire-Bellied Toad who's been with me for more than two years. He survived massive injury during an escape attempt and recovered completely, only to escape again recently. We thought he was a goner but two days later he presented himself at my feet (literally) and begged me to return him to the comfort and bounty of his terrarium. In celebration of his return to the good life, he offered me this great pose (he's such a poser) and I snapped a pic of his goofy little mug. In the wild my little (about 1.5 inches long) friend is toxic to attackers while in captivity he lacks the diet ingredients that produce toxins. I'm so proud and happy that I had to share. :D

Hey, this could be a cool thread? Got any weird pets?

I know, Mike. He's looking brighter and more colorful than he ever has, these days. You wouldn't believe it if you saw him after his accident. He was so bad that he didn't move for weeks. One night I actually looked up the ways to euthanize a frog, and at that exact moment he raised his little paw up and waved at me. I swear it's true. So I forgot about the Oragel and concentrated on getting food into him.

Wow, what a great color scheme for a guitar! Could be RIC's new COY!  Panchoglo! With black trim, natch.

Thanks, Frank. He's not the only fire-belly I've had, but he's definitely got the most spunk. Aggressive as all get-out. He'll snap at anything in his tank. I had to separate him from his tank-mate, Cisco, because feeding time always turned into a big wrestling match.

That's cool, John. Frogs and toads are actually low-maintenance and hi-gratification pets. Since this thread seems to be roling along nicely I'll post pics of my other other pets: My three huge Northern Leopard Frogs. :D

Anybody else got any pics to share? I can't be the only weirdo who loves odd creatures

Oh, that's right, they don't have grey squirrels in California! I think the California version looks more like this:

I used to have a Tarantula, my late wife had a parrot, and I had a iguana at one time also, now I just have the worlds most spoiled Dog.
