Once again, thanks for the info, but I have no intention of removing six and then keeping it that way. I merely want to give the guitar a ten minute six string workout next time I change strings. Never played a 360...and yet I essentially own one.

Tom: Please let us know of the outcome. It would also be nice to hear a recording of the sound with six strings if you are able to manage it. Welcome to the RickResource Fourm.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I did it, a long time ago. It worked and sounded great.

I actually have a 360 and a 360/12. The 12 has a slightly chunkier neck, and when I played it as a six, it had the perfect Ric tone I was looking for. Better, in fact, than the 360/6... much better.

As a result, it's always been a temptation for me to get another 12 and play it as a 6.

BTW, I had NO issues. Didn't leave it as a 6 for long; maybe a week. But I suspect these Rics are tougher, in some respects, than we might think. I had that 12 stored at a friend's house for a few months, and when I got it back, he had put new strings on it -- MUCH heavier than what I use! First I panicked; then I put my gauge back on; and never noticed any problems (thank goodness).

Thanks for your post. You really make me want to do it this very second!
However, I can't stand changing the strings in that Ric so I'm going to have to wait a while (until the strings are completely shot) for my little 360/12 to 360/6 experience.
