Hello, that's Paul's Casino! Just noticed the strap button on the bottom cut-away. And then the upside down stringing. Way cool.

We're all used to being able to trot down to the local music store and buy a relatively inexpensive little amp
that is 100 times better than the stuff the early Beatles were playing through. It's really amazing.

What is known about their early sound as a result? Were they playing very overdriven and distorted? Could that have been something that made them different, a tad more exciting?

The Beatles recorded at Friedrich Ebert Halle with Tony Sheridan in May of 1961.
This is where they recorded "My Bonnie" which eventually led them to Brian Epstein.
This was a children's school at that time. It no longer exists.
