I must concur. I just caught up with this story on this thread. I made an offer over on the
other thread in an attempt to help out as best I could and I meant what I said but after seeing
this thread I must agree......a BIG deep breath and some real thought needs to go in to this situation.

I never said I wanted this guitar, nor do I want a PT LE at all. I was just pointing out how nice and clean this looked, and how much I liked it. I do NOT want to buy it. (Collin, when you told me I was paying an extra $2k for a silly pickguard, it sank in)

I feel the 1997 is beyond repair. I don't feel comfortable showing anyone pics (aside from Paul W who will be getting them in due time). I want to restore it, but it could take months, maybe even a year to repair, and I cannot go with my wide and chunky necked, honky pickup'd Telecaster for that long. I simply cannot.

Now, I do have plans on using my graduation money (from friends and family) to restore it over the summer and afterward, but right now, I really want a new 1997 or even a SPC...basically the same guitar I lost.

OK lets chill here before things get right out of control.I suppose whilst others probably wont agree with you wanting another new 1997 i can understand that you need to spend some Dosh getting the guitar you damaged fixed and thats fine but lets not let things get messy and turn into a slagging match here.Jake its time to sit back and stop posting all the things in your life that you need.Its becoming a tad mmnn lets say not going well in your favour.I know you are young and people here enjoy your posts and the TP section is going great but in some posts you say your skint then the next you say you simply cannot go on playing your Tele and you want a new 1997 or even a SPC.I as a parent would love to give my kids all their heart desire but this is the modern world and things dont work like that.You say you broke the guitar well its up to you to fix it and im sure you will but in the mean time id keep posting here but keep my lips sealed as to what you want next.Jake ive a real passion for RIC and im on websites every other day looking and dreaming like every other numpty on this forum but the secret is when you buy you post the pic everyone says congrats and then its over.Please take peoples advice before they completely disregard your further posts.

Jake, get the 1997 fixed and "deal" with the Tele. Life isn't fair. There are plenty of people out there with cruddy acoustic junk who aren't complaining.

I gotta agree with Scotty, Paul W. and many others here...

I mean, I certainly understand that you were just publicly admiring another guitar- that's cool and I'm sure the owner appreciates it here.

But the problem is that over the past year 1/2, we've all learned your typical mode of operation, Jake. Emotions (read: material desires) flare up, and there's posts all over the place. SO....right after dropping a bombshell about your 1997, a guitar that was a year + of posting and "RLS" for, we're going to interpret a thread like this one, by you, as "Hey guys...I want this, let's talk about it. Forget that last acquisition.."

The only problem with that is that it's fairly insulting to all the people that patiently helped you get "the guitar of your dreams," or helped keep you steered towards it, or sold one to you (Kevin...).

Again, we love having you here on the RRF, your insight and posts have been invaluable and they greaty contributed to the good company and conversation that we enjoy here----so please don't take any of this on offense. I think we're all just scratching our heads (and shaking them) at this point..

Bottom-line: We were all here to help you get what you wanted----now we're all here to try to help you keep, and repair what you have. Work with us buddy !
