Re: Who owns this?
I don't want to repeat what's been said before, but only to add this: You feel the guitar is beyond repair. There's about 2 people here who are qualified to make that judgement, and it ain't you and me. Turn it over to the pros and let them work their magic. Have Paul add a 3rd pickup while he's at it. There just isn't that much that can't be fixed by a good repairman.

I vote we "let it be"---I think Jake's had a hard enough week as it is, and we've discussed it enough without getting too harsh etc. It sounds like he's on the right track...

It's like a Rickresource Support Group! I'll have to go back and read that other thread too.

Now now hang on there Jake.
You think the guitar is beyond repair simply because you decided that it's beyond repair?
There's a guy on TGP who paid $150 for someone to replace the nut on his guitar, this guy not being experienced at all in this didn't think it was an exuberant price. After everyone told him it seemed like an outrageous price, he tried to justify it, while maintaining the stance that he didn't know much about what he was talking about.
I guess this is making me think of that story. Let someone with the know-how and experience decide what can and can't be done.
Re: Who owns this?
I plan to repair this and turn it into a 1993/12 over the summer. I've always wanted a 1993/12, and what better way to get one than turn a broken 1997 into one.
