yea I've put it in the register already, but I don't think I had the serial # ANYwhere. I never expected it to happen, but I remember it was a 76 cause I had looked it up several times. I knew distinct things like a little bit of paint scraping on the headstock and a couple other things...it's a small city I'm surprised it never showed up anywhere. Whoever stole it probably didn't know anything about guitars though.

yea the finish was very pleasing, and in person it really makes a difference. Now I understand when people say photos don't do some finishes justice at all.

Late to the party as usual, but here's my '08 4003FL that I recently trimmed in black:

Can we have everything louder than everything else?

Dang John, I don't even like blue basses and that thing is HOT! The black trim is genius, and it looks like you put a pickguardian surround on it to good effect. They are hit or miss with me, but in your case it's definitely a hit. Sheeeeee...

Well, I have another late addition to this thread too, but not because I'm slow in getting around to it, because I just bought it.

Here's my new 2008 4003FL AFG:

I don't have it in my hot little hands yet, but it's on its way...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Here is an example of trust rod adjusters in the body side instead of headstock. My 1981 4003 JG.

Hmm, it's been a while since this thread has surfaced, and it seems I've acquired a couple of 4003s in that time that I didn't get posted. Well, since we all like a bit of Ric-O-Porn...

Such an outstanding collection and description of these amazing instruments!

Who else produces such variety? :D
If Mozart were with us today, he'd play a Fireglo 4001C64! ~~~*~~~ Beethoven, on the other hand, would play a Matte Jetglo 4001C64S!
