Hofner bass: H500/1-CT vs HCT500/1SB

Post by arrow201 »

Ok, both of these are of the Contemporary Series and want to confirm the differences.
From what i can gather from google, the "1SB" has an added sustain block ? ...is this
correct ? Now if i wanted to purchase the contemporary series model that is closest
to what McCartney has would it be the H500/1-CT ? ...thanks

I'm seeing that the SB stands for sunburst, and maybe all contemporary models have the sustain block for a "more modern sound"

http://www.music123.com/Hofner-H500-1-C ... 7.Music123
states CT and Sustain Block

http://www.hofner.com/gab/en/phpshop/43 ... ry_id,100/
states:
The contemporary version of the Violin Bass: the sustain block inside the body makes for modern, fulminant deep-resonating bass sounds.
Original Höfner 'Staple-Top' pick-ups. In black (-BK) or antique brown sunburst (-SB).

Hofner's search engine comes up with neither model number listed.

I'm thinking that both model numbers you gave are the same bass(?).

I have 3 German Hofners and 2 contemp Hofners...the contemp Hofners are great for the price....play real good and sound great. Just like the real thing besides the little differences like the sustain black, bound neck, tuners....etc. The contemp is quite a bit heavier than the German Hofners...
