So does anyone play a stock Ric here? ;-)
In my research to date on Rics, it seems that everyone can't wait to start pulling bits off their Ric, rewiring things, changing pickups, etc... almost makes me wonder if anyone out there is happily playing a stock off-the-shelf guitar?
I swapped the standard strings for pyramids -does that count?
The mods I am considering in the future:
1) Swapping my hi-gains for humbuckers. With no routing involved and complete reversability, would this really constitute a "mod" at all?
2) Doing something more useful with the blend knob. Maybe turn it into a real blend knob that roles off the treble pickup as well as the bass pickup, instead of just the bass.

All 12 of mine are "stock".... Why mess with something that's so cool and so perfect just the way it is? I'm very much a member of the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" school of thought.... But I may yet install a Bigsby on my model 1997, although I cringe at the thought of drilling holes in the face of that beauty!

I had to take the bridge cover off my 620/12 'cos damping the strings on the bridge with the heel of my hand is a big part of the way I play...but other than that it is and (probably) shall remain the way it came out of the case.
Oh, and I removed the sticker from the pick guard - I have an OCD thing going on with stickers, I think...

That's hilarious...the poor man spends half his time defending his company's products to the 'why don't Rickenbacker make them like this...' crowd, and the the other half modding what he's got to make them the way HE wants them.
Proof positive that perhaps what Rickenbacker do best is provide you with the best damn template available to create your own dream guitar - great out of the box; even better with a little tweaking...
