A record company trying to reproduce old magic with English? The original version was much better, and the entire first album by Modern English was very good. A person would have to like early 80's new wave to appreciate...Duran Duran, P-Furs, M. English, Talk Talk, etc. The original was also the theme song to a cool movie Valley Girl '83, better then Fast Times I say. Nicholas (Coppola) Cage was much better when he was just Coppola's and Shire's nephew instead of Bruckheimer's nugget!

Addendum: The Plimsouls were in Valley Girl three times. I don't remember if Rickenbackers were used but I believe so. I haven't seen it in awhile.

I have to agree that the original was better.
