I'd really hate to add screws to my bass so I just live with it. If it gets any worse though then the strings may not produce a witness point at the bridge saddles. The bridge hasn't moved so I don't think it will be a problem.

If you are good with your electric drill and you have good drill bits then you first drill through the tailpiece that is big enough for the screw shaft to pass through ... second use a larger drill bit and drill a shallow hole for the tapered screwhead to sit in ...

You have to have a little talent with an electric drill ... if you have a drill press then it is easier ... I have a hand held drill and it worked just fine ...

Both my '98 4003 and my 4003/8 redneck lift up a smidgeon at the back, but just enough to make a useful location to store one's pick when playing fingerstyle!

My '02 4003 lifts up about .010", not nearly enough room to shove a heavy pic in there.
If it ain't broke, break it, then fix it.

I just realized that, after looking that various pics posted around here, the bridge on my '92 4003 is pulling up significantly! (As in, noticeable, but not to the point where the witness point across the saddles is messed with.) The crazy thing is, I never noticed until now. In fact I would almost dare say it's ALWAYS been like that since I bought the bass in November of 1992 (bass was made in July of that same year) or maybe it's been such a gradual thing that I've never noticed it creeping up through the years. EDIT: It looks almost exactly like the one posted here: ../10625/5911.jpg

And after reading through the thread posted here: ../10625/5810.html"MB">
