Options for cleaner neck tone - Ric 360

I have a new 360 with the higain pickups. I find the neck pickup just too warm. What are the options for getting some more treble out of it? I'm OK with a soldering gun but leery of rewinding the PU. I'd prefer to replace the thing.

BTW, I realize this may be an overdone topic, but I tried search but I could not view past the first page of results

Dave: You might want to replace the high gains with the "Scatterwound Pickups" that have been used in the recent past on some of the Vintage Reissues and on the Carl Wilson Limited Edition.

The "scatterwound": Is that the "Vintage style guitar pickup" listed in the Ric parts list on the website?

Pricey, at $100. Any other sources for Ric PUs? I've seen them at allparts.com, but have no idea as to how good they are.

I wired a .0047uF cap across the already-wired terminals of the 5th knob on my modern 360/12. This has no effect when it's full CCW, but as you turn it up it rolls off the bass response for the neck PUP. Full CW it starts sounding kind of Straty. Not really a lead-type tone, but great for rhythm parts. You can use the volume controls for blending the Dual-PUP sound instead of the 5th knob. You should also try running it thru a MXR Dynacomp with the knobs around 2-3 & 9-10 o'clock. That takes off some of the bottom end and adds some brightness to the sound. That's one reason why folks like Dynacomps as opposed to other compressors that don't color the sound.

FWIW, for some reason my 360/12 came from the factory with 500K tone pots which make it somewhat brighter. Maybe they were running low that day, but I sure don't mind

Try installing a .0047 cap in the place of the wire that runs from the switch to the volume control .That will lose some of the bass.and get a little clearer.

Then try changing the pickup.The cost diference is considerable.
