An f-ing Doc Martens ad????????

I'm so glad I missed the grunge generation if only by a handful of years. So tragically ironic, much like the enfeebled Tool fan base that I AM (with some shame) a part of*. Despite Cobain's message he was immediately turned into a product for the masses.

*You'd have to know the band's message to get why there's any irony. Check out Lateralus, then check out a typical crowd at a Tool show.

I doubt if Kurt would have signed off to Doc Marten's or that he would have needed his own line of Converse either.

I think that was somebody else's idea

I couldn't resist the image though, tacky as it is

He HATED Doc Martens, with good reason. Every other bonehead long haired headbanger in Seattle (think Alice in Chains, Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder) wore 8 hole Docs.....Kurt spent his whole career trying to seperate himself from that. I'm pretty sure he's rolling in his grave from that ad......and he certainly wouldn't want a pair of one-star Converse with his name on it.....that is wrong on so many levels...

There's "Something in the Air" (Thunderclap Newman/Tom Petty pun) for Tom Petty in '80

He's "Learning to Fly" (another Petty pun) here:
