Is it true that all luthiers hate banjos?
If that's true I'm going to get you all on board and start the BORE (Banjo Owners Rehabilitation Enterprise) or BABAB (Bin And Burn All Banjos)

Just tossing them in the trash doesn't do the trick. Now, the trash compactor on the other hand...

Just don't you dare try that with my old Gibson Mastertone...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Okay, this is especially for Paul W, because I know how much you enjoy this sort of thing...couldn't find one with bagpipes, Perfesser, but hopefully this will do. I think you'll agree, it woulda sounded like **** without the tuba...

(Hmmm...'Darktown', y'say? Be lookin' mo' like 'Lillywhitetown' t'me...)

Hey! They're all about my vintage - even younger, maybe!!

Think I'd better get me one of them 'plunketty plunk' thingies and take me some lessons. The tooba looks pretty cool, but!!

When those guys are gone, who will take their place?

What an uplifting thought...

You know the part of "Pirates of the Caribbean" when you first set out through the bayou in your "boat"?

Reminds me of the little shack over to the left, you know? Yes, it's true...I'm Disney-imprinted.

Man, you said it! Now I'm picturing myself (in the not too distant future) trapped at the back of the room with a bass while 23 codgers mash their way through "Purple Haze" on vintage strats...(shudder)...

Don't feel like the lone ranger, Paul...we're all 'Disney-imprinted', whether we have the courage to admit it or not. Forgive me if I've told this one already, but I 'took that ride' once with a good friend of mine...things were a bit slow, and there was no one in the last seat of the boat, right behind where we had been directed to sit. As we rounded the first bend, with the 'Cajun/French' restaurant on our right and passing the little shack you spoke of, my friend suggested, in the logic of thrill-seeking adolescent young men, that we would undoubtedly enjoy the ride more if we were in that back seat...so we jumped over our seat backs. Within seconds, we had come to the brink of the first 'rapids', when the entire ride ground to a sickening halt, and a disembodied voice boomed out of the dark through invisible loudspeakers: "You guys in the back of that boat, get back in your seats!" It was precisely at that moment (and every other moment I've spent in Disneyland since, which thankfully have not been many) that I began to take note of all the little red lights aimed at us from every conceivable angle. We reasoned later that the only safe place to 'blaze one' was in one of the slow-moving gondolas of the 'sky-ride' above the 'park'...and even then, only at the mid-point between pylons. I'm sure the 'authorities' have long since closed that window of opportunity.

As I once heard a similarly disembodied voice at D-land say to a massive crowd inching their way through a line to some other ride: "Please move along as quickly as possible while continuing to have fun"...I've got that one filed away in memory right next to "Arbeit Macht Frei"...

Yep, don't try and make out with your girlfriend on Spaceship Earth at Epcot either. :( They have infrared cameras or something for the pitch black sections too.

They've done better than that--the whole damned ride is gone.
