I have a double album Mimi & Richard Farina set going back to the '70s. Great music! :D

I used to play dulcimer and keep wanting to buy another one but the good ones are really expensive.

I have an old dulcimer that sounds pretty decent. It's a lot of fun and easy to play.

If anyone is interested I'll post a pic :?:

It's rough and homemade but very charming. :) Here I took the strings off for cleaning. Like the nice antique-y patina?. That's a little number I call Smog-glo  :

Home-made from scratch or a kit?

I really don't know but I suspect it is from one of those kits from the seventies. It was owned by a good friend who passed away, and broken when I got it up near the nut. A little battlefield surgery got it playable again but I never even cleaned it until today. The wood really reminds me of those kits from when we were kids, remember?

You can still get kits, but they are usually pretty cheap in quality. I'd like to get a good one that the frets are actually in the correct locations.

Yeah, I know what you mean. That's a nice one that Richard Farina is playing in the video above.

I'm surprised JimK hasn't found this thread.

Too bad Richard died so young,he was a brilliant author as well as a musician. His novel "Been Down So Long,It Looks Like Up To Me" is a classic and if you never read it do your self a favor and find a copy.
