TRC size bass vs guitar

Post by jdogric12 »

Hi gang. I was hoping someone could help me out with this here.

I need a white molded TRC for an '81 4003. Someone offered me one from a modern 350... I just want to confirm, will that fit? Are they the same size? Thanks gang. Cheers, J

Jason I happen to have a white 4003 TRC from the 80's and also a 350 Liverpool. I'll check them out for you later this evening and let you know. The 350 TRC that you were offered is it the raised letter type or is it the plexi version from a v63?

I believe the injection-molded plastic ones all start out the same size and that the nut end may have to be cut back a bit to fit certain models. On the 12-strings, the top arc is shaved a bit to clear a string or two on their way to the routes.

Don't know if the holes are formed in the molding process or are drilled to fit certain models. If I had a wide variety of models I could check, but all my samples are basses.

Jason the 4003 and the 350 raised letter TRC's that I have are the same size and the holes line up perfectly.

A modern (post-1994) 350 will have a white plexi TRC which will be much bigger than the injection-molded '81 (as you probably already know).
