Rick Addict - About this time I bought a Hofner to use in this band, yet I was still unable to completely avoid using the Rick (some sound guys just couldn't get a good and even tone with the Hofner).

Bartles & Jaymes? LOL! -Could be, I remember being a bit a of a wino in those days (and I guess that really wasn't very cool for a rocker  ) I never liked beer much and would give away the free ones to reward any friends that showed up.

Ricardo - "Rickabilly" - Copyright that!

Ram - Just for my own entertainment nowadays. I just picked it up after about 2 decades and now need to concentrate on losing about 50 lbs and gettin' into playing shape. The Rick never aged a day it seems.

Walker - Here's a site your may like about the Lonestar and other NY places that are gone but not forgotten
http://www.forgotten-ny.com/SLICES/lone ... star2.html

Rickenbrother - Thanks :!:

John Allg - Yes, but as a lefty, I never got to play any other bass (other than my Hofner). I asked a much older guitar playing acquaintance of mine back in '78 which bass I should buy and without hesitation he said "a Rick". I went that day to downtown NYC and saw the Fireglo 4001 lefty in the window with a sign attached "PAUL McCARTNEY STYLE RICK!"...there was no turning back. :)

Thought you might like some shots from our recent dates supporting the mighty Stiff Little Fingers in the UK. Although I usually use a C64, for these dates, to ensure consistency in the event of a changeover, I opted for 2 4003s, both from around 2000/2001, one FG, one JG. The JG was originally going to be the backup - I'd used it a couple of times live but never really got on with the sound. However, I restrung both with Rick strings and set them up as similarly as an amateur like me could, and to my surprise the JG came out on top by miles - a much better "grunt" than the FG, so it took lead position. And let's face it, it looks so much more cool with the black pg/trc. Your might not be able to spot it but there is one other mod, for those with keen eyes. The FG was called into action once, at Rock City, after the A string on the JG let go in soundcheck - bit of a surprise for a 2-week old string. This pic is from the Leamington Spa Assembly Rooms show - a great venue, if anyone is interested. The Stiffs, and the other support act Chelsea, were brilliant, as you'd expect.

Hey Phil - great to see shots of you live in action! Interesting how greatly the two 4003's differ. Nice gig, by the way!

As far as my keen eyes go, maybe they're not so keen. I'm not sure if I can see the 3rd mysterious mod you referred to. I think I see an unusually bright reflection coming from the 7 PG screws, but maybe that's normal from the bright spotlights?

Thanks guys! Believe it or not I was having huge amounts of fun, despite the glum expression. If anyone is interested, there are better pics of the bass and the rest of the band, at least, at:
http://www.leamingtonassembly.com/(S(gw11otmzrsjfez45lrluonma))/gallery.aspx

The house photograher did a great job. Select "Gallery", scroll down to the pic box, select "Stiff Little Fingers" and you should get a shot of our singer, then go left and right from there.
