Need help - Ric case repair

Post by richs »

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

I have an older Ric tolex case (black)...that has the Cheney latches (and I see the new silver cases also have Cheney latches!)

My probem is that the insert (with the u-shaped tounge thingy) is gone from one of the latches...so now the case won't close.

Is there somewhere I can buy an insert?
Can I buy a new latch?
Are these things easy to replace or impossible?

(Sucks to know absolutely NOTHING about a subject! lol)

Thanks in advance for any help

Have you tried a luggage repair place? They often have repair parts to fix guitar case hardware, and a latch is usually an inexpensive repair.

Rich, I got some a few years ago direct from Rickenbacker service. They sent me all the parts I needed to repair all the latches and the hinges. They also sent several of the little pins that you use to attach them to the tolex.
