Novices need not apply
Here's something you don't see everyday. I'm thinking you might need Norm Abrams and "the Old Yankee Workshop" to make this thing whole again!!

Maybe these could be merged?

I think that second pic is the neck and mutilated body the guy mentioned in his listing. Take those 2 pices, a few feet of duct tape and a little Elmer's wood glue and you've got yourself a fine axe!

That mutilated one should be called the "Massachusetts" bass.

Re: Novices need not apply
The sad part (for me) is that I would likely have made the attempt to buy these parts and tried to rebuild one.
I was a fool and sold my first Ric (4003) about 18 years ago and then fell out of playing entirely. Recently, the kidlet has shown interest in playing guitar and I've picked up the bass again and have been wanting to get another Ric badly.
My Jones was so bad that I would likely have paid for something like this just so I could get another and would have justified this monstrosity in my mind by wanting to rebuild it the "way I liked it".
The last ebay monstrosity I had seen was months ago.
After months of complaining about the lack of Ric basses available near me that weren't selling for an arm and a leg, I finally found a guy whose brother had one that was maybe wanting to sell it. Weeks later, I finally had a 4003S/5 in my possession.
I'm seriously glad I didn't see these because I picked up this beauty for what the last ebay monstrosity cost and now I don't even have to work on it to make it playable.

Poor thing. She was only 32 years old.

That suggestion to merge the two is not a bad one. Question is whether they can be bought at a reasonable price. Anything over about $250.00 for the pair and it becomes beyond economic feasibility.
Free would be even better, but Ebay ain't about "free", sadly.

Re: Novices need not apply
I guess that would depend on whether you're the buyer or the seller.
Anyway, $250 for the pair ain't gonna happen either since the neck is $355 and the body is $91 now...

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

This might also be a candidate for a bolt-on neck? Maybe a 5ver? Hmmmmmmm...
