I do wonder about how loud they will remaster. Check this out:

This is an animated illustration of the trend of increasing loudness as shown by waveform images of "Something" by The Beatles, mastered on CD four times since 1983.

That Wiki page links to recent Guardian article:
"On the bright side, Howlett remarked, "they sound louder than previous CD reissues."
Oh, great.

I don't know how excited I am about this. I always feel a little strange with someone who was not in the room monkeying with these tapes. I was OK with the Anthology because George Martin was at the helm and the boys themselves were involved, but everything else (to ME) seems like someone else's "interpretation" of what they "THINK" it should sound like.

Regardless, I'll buy everything, stereo, mono, "the making of" DVD's, anything.

And, as usual, I'll just wish I could.

I'm really excited about these new remasters. After 22 years of listening to the old CD's, this will be a welcome relief. The game plan right now is to save up for the mono box, and perhaps buy the stereo CD's separately. However, I could change my mind about picking up the stereo box set 25 times between now and September. As Tom Petty once sang, though: "The Waiting Is The Hardest Part". Those new remasters can't get here soon enough. :D

I only have one Beatles CD, which is "Revolver". I have vinyl of some of the others, but I haven't had a turn table since... er, can't remember, so it's been awhile since I've heard the rest, aside from watching how to play the stuff on You Tube. :D It's all downhill for after "Rubber Soul" for me anyway, except for a few of the White Album songs (seven that I recognize and like, to be exact. :D ). Will we have to buy a boxed set, or can we just buy the remastered CDs that we like?

"Finally, as is common with today’s music, overall limiting - to increase the volume level of the CD - has been used, but on the stereo versions only."

Wow. No limiting on mono! :D

Not a single pertinent fact. Purely opinion and speculation. Does this fellow even work in the industry?

+1. Purely a rant, and not much else.

Well if you ask me, they should issue the remastered versions on vinyl as well, so I could spend more money.
I'd have to get a record player.
