Yeah, they goofed up the headstock angle in a big way. Otherwise an interesting take on the idea. I kind've think it's hideous but I'm intrigued by how it would sound, being made out of that material.

I wonder if those posters on TalkBass are right--RIC can't enforce trademark overseas? I'd think any country in the WTO, etc., would be forced to comply with intellectual property rights from other countries. That was the big thing about China joining. Now countries that produce copies just turn a blind eye, as I understand it.

I think your take on it is more correct, Joshua. The other guys are repeating the old self-serving misconceptions.

i'm not a fan of metal guitars except for acoustic resonators. There have been a lot of designs I've tried but they all leave me "cold". The traditional engraving would look nice on a metal pickguard.

Also they called Lemmy's bass a "bast#rd" while citing it as inspiration. That kind of bugs me.

Kira, Lemmy has a custom "Rickenbast#rd" TRC on his LK so the "bast#rd" reference is likely one of affection.

It's interesting alright, I wonder why he took all this time to do the inlay work and drop that ugly Fender bridge cover on it? I'd hate to be using it at an outdoor gig and get struck by lightning

It looks like he made this as a one off, not any kind of production model, so he's got himself a nice piece of art there, and hopefully, a good playing and sounding instrument.

Personally, I think that thing is freaking hideous and sacreligious! That just doesn't look like it would be comfortable to play, but then that's only my opinion, not that it matters...

That is a really nice looking piece of work. Metal is not my first choice of material but I really like it.

As for the shape, it is probably best not to comment either way on what RIC can or can't do. Stuff like that only gets people annoyed and Joey does not need the stress.

I tried one of those Kramers in the 1980's that had an aluminum neck. It was cold, impersonal, and weighed a friggin' ton. I can only imagine that this guy is either built like Lou Ferrigno or they have a very short set with a break for a bit of a rest in the middle.

Mind you, that Kramer had huge sustain if I remember correctly.

Yes, they do sustain well and you are right about them being cold. Both Kramer and Travis Bean tried the metal neck idea and failed.

Looks like another variation of what Trussart Guitars were doing . I've seen Trussarts in Toronto when visiting . They can be beautiful instruments .

Needs a horseshoe and a toaster though .

Metal neck Kramers had horrible tuning issues because of the metal neck.
