I'm tipping the price will change prior to release, so I've locked a copy in at $16.47 from Amazon.com. That said, I'm not expecting much from the book - probably just a lot of photos, thin commentry and interviews rehashed from previous books... Hope I'm wrong.

I have that book. I will wait till the new book is available, I don't really see the price going up once it is published and selling.

I think it is quite common for publishers to release an initial, lower priced production run in order to gauge the market. Sales data from the first run would allow the publisher to make a better estimate on numbers for the first major print run. I could be wrong but I've seen this happen over and over again where a book is available for a few months at a lower price, stops being available, then returns at a higher price and this time stays on the market. Has anyone else noticed this practice?

Hmm, I suppose that can be, I have never looked into this. I can't see pre-ordering six months in advance, however. :? Is this normal for the book publishing industry?

My own sound would be that of a jaw flapping and keys clicking.
