Your studio/stage setup?

When your in the studio recording a hit, or rocking it out onstage, what is the setup?

My setup is simple:

Rickenbacker 1997SPC to Fuzz Face to Danelectro compressor to Fender Deluxe Reverb

It all depends what the situation calls for. This is why I have many different guitars/basses, amps/cabs, effects, and modelers.

Mainly live I prefer my Hiwatt halfstack and White Les Paul Custom. The amp is a tank, as well as the guitar. I don't have to worry about being nice to them either, or about the people that may be on the stage at any given time. Quite honestly, my Rickenbacker guitars kinda scare me to play them live, even though I have. My 4003AFG ,however, falls in to the same "tank" category, and would use it anywhere. Effects will vary per band and/or requirement.

The studio is anybodys guess, it's surprising how the thing you would least have thought would do the job, nails it. Keeping an open mind in the studio, and not confining yourself to some type of misplaced psuedo purist attitude, will yeild you much better results than the "this is the end all tube hand wired thingy" will.

One of my Vox AC30s, and the world's 2nd largest pedal board (Biscuti's is 1st), plugged into one of my Ricks, and a Gretstch Silver Jet. On rare occasion, I'll run a second amp/stereo in the form of a Fender BF Twin Rev RI.

Ibanez TS10 Tube Screamer-I have one of those modded Tube Screamer Plus/Turbo Tube Screamers in my gig bag, with the fancy chips in it, but the TS10 sounds great, so I continue to use the TS10.

DOD A/B box, tuned backwards so I can leave two guitars plugged in at once, and switch guitars with the tap of a footswitch button.

The pedal board also has a built in power supply, in addition to the built in FX loop.

I use mainly my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and either my partsocaster Strat or '58 Les Paul RI. For effects, I used to use a DigiTech multi-effect pedal and DOD compressor, but lately I've been into a simple Morely wah/volume pedal.

Another guitarist at a gig my band was at was using a Vox Tonelab and it sounded great, anyone have experience with those?

I'd like to hear about Vox Tonelab, too. I've been ogling them in the shop but I'm trying to stick to analog effects, or not mix analog and digital.

Paul thanks, I put the wah first in the chain too. But I put the compressor second. I hear great things about the TS10, but I've got three good OD/distortion units already. How many fuzzboxes does one girl need? Love my Marshall ED-1 compressor.

Yeah, I think it was Paul W. who mentioned something a week or two ago in another thread about putting the compressor before the distortion so as to better compress the pure signal, or something like that, but I haven't gotten around to unplugging things ans switching them around yet; I don't use my compressor so much, and I'll have to get remember where to step on what pedal once I've switched them around.

Since I seldom play outside of the house, in most cases it's Guitar > Amp. However, sometimes I do use my one and only pedal, a JangleBox.

I guess this falls under the heading of "He's a Legend In His Own Mind." But I have a late '60s tuck'n'roll Kustom amp and cab, a Jangle Box, and a Boss BF-2 flanger. I really don't like the idea of gigging with that Kustom. It weighs a ton!

I'd really like to experiment with the ROS thing into two smallish 15 watt tube amps.

Yup. I've had mine for 3 years, and the only other pedal I ever use is a Stereo Memory Man for echo. I do have a rack compressor and preamp.
