Are you waiting to see ?

Post by nov_1981 »

Just wondering if there's anyone like myself out there
waiting see if Ric produces 4003's with checkerboard binding
before buying a new one :?:

The "knock your socks off " from Ben Hall has really got me thinking.
The new FG 4003's are so tempting now but the thought of having CB binding
has me waiting to see what the future brings .

Curious myself. I've been holding off seriously looking for a 4001v63 waiting to see what the new Rick announcement might be. The comment
that the 4001c64(s) were dropped because of 'overlap' has me wondering.

Do we even have any idea when this announcement will be made?

I hear ya Robert. I've been uh, "suggesting" checkered binding for years here and I have to say it would be an FG also if this comes to pass. POTR would have to order them by the gross I'd bet.

The checkerd binding is nice, but im hopeing for a totally new bass model all togather, already have 2 4003's really dont need another, would like something fresh and new, the thought of a band new model from Rickenbacker, now that really excites me, lets see something totally different and new.

Why does everyone think it's going to be a totally new model? Rickenbacker said the 4001c64 was discontinued because it would 'overlap' with the new model.

Just askin'.

And CB on 4003s? I doubt it if the backlog is still around - 2x the routing/binding work per bass.

Jim, for me FG would be a HUGE step. Remember, 4 MGs and a walnut 4004C...

Would it REALLY knock your socks off if they added CB??? I mean, that's a purely aesthetic change. I want RIC to do something adventurous like a new model bass. Not to mention CB would just mean an even longer wait.

I think Ben shot down our specific speculations. Regrettably CB was one. :(
