Ronn, where did you find your pre? I've been using a SansAmp Bass Driver set to "Bassman" setting with my G-K 800RB to give it some "tube tone". I'd love to check this thing out!

Sure! I like that pedal, its the only one I use and its on all the time, it just sits on top of my amp. I adjust the TONE to suit my needs; around 9 o'clock for the Hofner, around 11 o'clock for the Ric, and fully CW for "A Little Help From My Friends".

Is their ebay store the only way to purchase that? Seems odd to have to bid on a set item. I couldn't find a place to purchase on their website. Looks like a nice pre-amp pedal.
Can we have everything louder than everything else?

I think that I'd like to check this thing out. I'm always looking for ways to improve my tone, especially with a solid state amp. I figure that $70 is kinda inexpensive for a tone shaper. There may be a way to buy direct, all it'd take to find out would be an e-mail. Thanks again, Ronn.

Ronn,

What do you think of that SX bass? People freak over the quality for the price, how's the tone? Did you mod it?

That's sort of my point. I liked the demo they had, and I'm interested too. But there's no point in us bidding against one another to get a pedal like that. They make them to order, so why should one of us pay $89 and the other pay $69 for the same new device? Seems as though they should have a set price and an ability to buy from their website.

It nails the Beatles' Fender Jazz tone, I used it for probably 3 years without any mods, but then one of the pickups died and I replaced both with SDs. I have just replaced it with a Fender Jazz, only because I'm a bit of a "purist", and, I like buying new basses! So its sitting in the closet.

I should have read a little further down before posting my question.

Scott,

I had an SX SPB-57 vintage series. I hated it. Good build quality for $110 bucks but it just might be that I dont like playing P basses. I never modded it. I actually just sold it to some dude for like $65 bucks

I have a SX Jazz bass that is a 75 J look alike with binding and white block inlays.
Its a lot nicer than the P and it actually plays and sounds pretty good for a $160 bass.

That said Try an Epiphone Thunderbird. It is awesome and the tone is pure rock and roll........
