Hey all,
Been watching the various posts in the various forums, trying to figure out the best way to re-create the Roger McGuinn sound (or something approaching it, as I remember it) and I see lots of posts saying, "Well, I use this," or "I use that" and my question is I've got a Johnson Millenium 150 and a Crate 125. What I'm thinking of trying is putting an octaviser between the guitar and an A/B box and running the A/B box to the clean channel on both amps. Do you think I'm I hitting at the sound that way, or am I missing something?
Gear set-up
Re: Gear set-up
Instead of focusing on gear, I'd focus on playing technique. Roger would sound like Roger no matter what stomp boxes, or amps he was playing through. Get yourself a copy of his guitar instruction DVD, learn Mr. Tambourine Man; Turn, Turn, Turn, and Eight Miles High, and you'll have the essence of his style down.
