F3s rock! I still have a bagful of them. Just the sound of the shutter drop makes anyone feel like a rock star! That 6.5 FPS motordrive ditto.
The absolute apex of mechanical SLR design.

F3s were very prone to have metering problems due to a bad interface design between the body and finder.kiramdear wrote:F3s rock! I still have a bagful of them. The absolute apex of mechanical SLR design.

Now, let's talk about the absolute pinnacle of 35mm cameras.
Re: Group Therapy for Ric Owners-In-Waiting
Eh, to each their own. Mine are tanks. It's hard to argue with the roster of F3 toting journalists from back in the day. But the Canon was awesome too, I know. I could only afford to be a slave to one brand at a time, however.
Now the stuff is dirt cheap.

Re: Group Therapy for Ric Owners-In-Waiting
I just got back from the place where I used to drop off my film to be developed. And ya know what? They don't do that anymore
But they still sell the stuff.
This is the camera I really like, the Olympus OM10. Mine is nearly 30 years old.

Seems to be the way of the world, Jim!
Any 1-hour shop can process the film for you and put the images on CD, also.
Re: Group Therapy for Ric Owners-In-Waiting
Kira, my F1 was a tank, too, plus I preffered the very nice match needle metering system it had along with the spot meter screen I had in mine.
At the studio we have one F3 that we use on a copy stand occasionally if a client needs slides from a photograph, otherwise we use FM2n bodies. In the vault we have F2 and F bodies with various finders, to go along with all the Hasselblad gear, plus The Museum! You know, Speed Graphics, Busch Pressmans, Heiland and Graflex handlemount flashes (the kind that uses flash bulbs, remember those?
), TLR Rolleis, that kind of stuff!

And, if you get on of them new fangled digital cameras, all ya gotta do is just plug the USB cable into your camera and your computer and click the download thingy...jps wrote:Seems to be the way of the world, Jim!Any 1-hour shop can process the film for you and put the images on CD, also.
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

So, you really remember these things?
Re: Group Therapy for Ric Owners-In-Waiting
I remember them well because my Dad had the bug too. I guess that's where I got infected. But this was the kind of thing that I was interested in:

Vivitar 285 with a Bantam Battery. Strobe-O-Rama.

Re: Group Therapy for Ric Owners-In-Waiting
I see you went big, no piddly 283 for you!
Re: Group Therapy for Ric Owners-In-Waiting
Sorry Jim, but since you are no longer in waiting we thought discussing the dilemma of no photos of your new Rick was valid!
Re: Group Therapy for Ric Owners-In-Waiting
Yup, just biding time until the next angst-ridden Expectant One requires our Rickencrisis Intervention experience.

Re: Group Therapy for Ric Owners-In-Waiting
You're spoiling my thread. I'm waiting much longer than Jim ever did and you have a whole forum on this subject too.jps wrote:Sorry Jim, but since you are no longer in waiting we thought discussing the dilemma of no photos of your new Rick was valid!
