The 3 screw C64 tailpieces lift too. I exchanged one of my modified 7 screw tailpieces for one that a forum member had that had about 2mm of lift under it. The forum member was very happy about the functionality of my piece when he got it. Unfortunately his "zeal" in expressing this along with his displeasure over the original part got a thread locked, so he exited the forum.

I bought a three screw C64 tailpiece off of Dane over a year ago, it was pretty solid with no lift. I'm using it to restore a Jan. 73 4001 that I sent to Dale Fortune. Finding an original tailpiece for this era is almost impossible and the C64 piece is a dead ringer for the pre- Apr 73 4001's. Maybe when the C64 is discontinued these parts will be available to the general public?
