Someone posted this question over in another part of the Forum and it was not answered...so...Ive got a 370-12, a spare pickguard, some extra pots and knobs, and as a complusive solderer, am thinking about the possiblity of doing some wiring mods...

Whats the dif between the McGuinn and BYRD wiring schemes? Aside from the compressor, that is...I understand that sticking a compressor in the control cavity isnt a good idea...and the RM 370-12 wiring scheme w/o the compressor is a stock 370-12 scheme according to the drawing on the Ric page....but the RM scheme with compressor looks like it might have some cool pickup blend options....Volumes for each pickup, and the ability to blend in the middle with the neck bridge or both settings???...I have a strat wired that way and I like it

The BYRD looks like it has volumes for the pups, a master volume and a 3 way toggle with set tone settings...at least from a discussion a while ago on VOxTalks....does anyone have a schematic for the BYRD wiring?

Don, if you need a schematic for the old 60s Byrd wiring, call for Tomcat here.As an aside, just know this; the old Byrd wiring setup is Not versatile, unless you call only 1 PU at a time
switching versatile.There are more interesting, but fairly simple ways to wire this up, and still have it Look like the 60s Byrds knob layout from the outside, which is what I did with my own '67 370-12.

ok...thanks...that sort of answers one of my questions...so the BYRD allows only one pup at a time?

The spare pick guard I have has the stock pre drilled pot holes...so I wasnt really looking for the the BYRD/McGuinn knob arrangement...but rather the function...I thing the stock 370-12 might have a few more possibilities thatn the stock wiring..
