Would like to hear the details of your PRS 12 string as they are pretty rare. How do you like yours? Would you recommend it to us Rick Nuts?
I don't want to say anything that would be construed as heresy here as I have owned a 360/12V64 which I just loved but found hard to play down in the "cowboy chord" area because of the narrow neck/nut width. After I saw the Tribute DVD to George Harrison I went out and bought a 1966 Fender Electric XII. This caused me to sell off the Ric 12 string because it was easier to play and gave me plenty of jangle. Then I found the PRS 12 string which plays like a 6 string and can give me all the jangle I need plus many more sounds.
That being said, I understand that the more recent Ric 12 strings have adjusted the spacing at the nut to spread out the strings a little more so I'm thinking that a 330 12 string is now on my radar screen.Plus I'm really more of a hollowbody guy.
But the PRS 12 will not be going anywhere.I don't intend to make any converts here. People here love their Rics and that's the way it should be; they are incredible guitars and that's why I'm back in the fold after all !!I am just loving my 1998 330 FG and still coming to grips with the 325C64.
Regards,
Tom

Interesting you should bring up the subject of string spacing at the nut on a Rick, Dr. Tom. Here's a little story, that happened last night at song writers' circle.
A couple of years ago, just after ordering my Rick, I wrote a song that I intended to play on it. It has a very Byrdsy sort of Gene Clark feel about it. So I pull out the song last night to sing for the group, except that I'm playing my 6 string acoustic. I haven't picked up this guitar in a week mind you, since my Rick arrived, and I'm trying to do this McGuinn-esque hybrid picking. Of course I hadn't had time to recalibrate my playing, so to speak, and the solo quickly went south.
I played the song this afternoon on the Rick, and bingo! there it was in all of its jangle and chime.

Are there any pics yet?

Re: My Fingers Are So Sore....
Yup. But I have to tell you, the new fireglo is nothing like the sorry excuses for pictures I am attaching. Anyway, here at long last are the pix of Rickenbacker #0915472

Wow...I don't know if it's a photo effect, but I love the small center to that burst! And such a nice dark blood-red color.
Great to finally see it, it's a beauty!!!

Nice, Jim! Love the Fireglo on this one!
Re: My Fingers Are So Sore....
That's what I mean about the lousy color rendition. The burst is larger, more gradual, and the colors are ever so much more subtle than the photos would lead you to believe. Trust me, you'll have to visit Lawrence to see it. It's really gorgeous. Eric and the paint shop crew really did themselves proud.

The shot of the postman is classic! Not like you were waiting for him..,.
I stopped by SamAsh the other day and they have a FG 360-12 - it's gorgeous!

It's amazing how clear the picture of the postman is, considering you were jumping for joy at the time!

Re: My Fingers Are So Sore....
Eh....maybe. No promises. First thing is to get one (or two!) smaller, say 15 watt tube amps which weigh somewhere in the less than 40lbs area each.jps wrote: TOASTERS!!!
For the moment, I'm really enjoying the twang and jangle of the high gains.
