Aloha,
I'm new here and wanting to get some info on my 4000 Bass. I was told it was a '63 but the ser. # is GK 4651 which would be Nov. 1967, yeah? Great site here, I look forward to further perusal.
Aloha, Ric Chick

Yes, GK would make it Nov'67. The early 4000's were so much nicer than the later ones since they were neck through with aluminum tailpieces and horseshoe pickups. Yours even has the plexi grab bar!

Welcome aboard the RRF train, Shelly. Great looking 4000 in good shape (current picture?). I like the padded strap too. You've come to the right place to learn all about Ricks, thats for sure.
Re: Post of picture of you PLAYING your ric
Welcome Shelly...
Very nice 60's 4000 in that picture, with it's horseshoe. Not many of them about. Does it still look like that today?

I'm trying to make out the finish on your bass, Shelly. I'm guessing a natural wood finished aged yellow a little bit under a red spot in that pic?

Nice pic, Ian!
Shelly and I must be lost cousins or something, judging by our basses. To wit, here I am with my '74 Burgundy 4000 two nights ago (Better, clearer pic's coming soon.):

Dan - Love the shirt! The bass in much cooler thou. Cousins indeed!
Ian – nice mood shot. Which bass you playin?
Shelly – sorry for the typo – that should have been 'great' NOT 'grate'. It’s amazin how transposing a couple of letters can change the meaning soooo much…
