The Beatles ROCKBAND Game

Post by godber »

There are a couple of heads up and discussion threads on here concerning this, but things have moved on since then.

The website progressively updates the studio shot until we are now at the point where we have to see a Rickenbacker, or maybe a J-160e?

Have Rickenbacker given permission? Will we see a bazillion made-in-China plastic look-a-likees. Is there trouble ahead? We shall soon see.

My Ringo wig is in the post.

I'm probably nerdy enough to buy one (for the kids you see).

Looking forward to it. Unfortunately they are keeping the details of the game secret.
Does anyone know how much it will cost?

I hope Rickenbacker have stockpiled 325s for the "adult" response. Can't wait to see the bass. :D

What I'm looking forward to is the inevitable leak of all of the .MOGG files from the game... multitrack files for every song in the game. They have to have the full multitracks to make the games, so that when the guitar screws up, the song carries on. I guess... never played the games.

From what I've read, you make your way through The Beatle careers, so you may get both.

I'd like to ask a couple of questions about that image at the top of the page. What is that supposed to be? We're inside Abbey Road Studios and there's Ringo's set and a couple of instruments and binders and stuff laying around. Are we to imagine ourselves taken back in time, just waiting for their arrival for a historic recording session? Or is this supposed to be a moment in the present, and the two survivors are meeting up to play Rockband? Are those supposed to be the controllers in the picture or are they trying to represent the originals from way back when?

They're usually re-recordings.

That's not the case. While some are re-recordings, most are originals. For instance, I have 8 track multitracks from the Pixies, Smashing Pumpkins, Police, and Sonic Youth that are all from Rock Band or Guitar Hero. They are all the real recordings.

I would be surprised if any of the Beatles songs on this release are re-recorded. Seems very cheap after getting permission to use Beatles songs and licensing a Rick controller.

When you look at the song tracks on Rock Band (not sure about Guitar Hero), you will see:

Song Track - Band Name

OR

Song Track - as made famous by Band Name

Obviously the "as made famous by" tracks are cover bands while the others are the originals.

I'm kinda pissy about Rock Band 2 not having a Ric bass for my badass ***** bass player to play. I seriously wanted to buy one of their 3D models of my Rock Band bass player but they didn't have a Ric for me to outfit her with.

I'm so hoping I can import my bassist into this game, buy the Ric bass (in the game) and hopefully buy a Ric bass controller and I'll be all set.

Yeah, there's no way they went to the time, money and trouble to get the Beatles to agree to do a videogame, just to have some studio band redoing the tracks. Getting access to the music is the entire point. I don't think the Beatles would put their name on a product with re-recordings.

So? Lots of Beatles multitracks coming soon!

At RockBand.com you can view all of the songs currently available.

Here, it actually shows which songs are covers.

Skimming the list (and also the list on my 360... not that 360, the xbox), I'd say less than 10% are covers and if i remember right, those were from the first game.

I just went and looked and I got it half right, 26 out of over 400 songs are covers and about half were from the first game with the rest being downloadable content (which could have been released during the time of the first game but not before the second game).

There seems to be very little cover songs that RockBand uses.
