Writers of Tony Jackson's Solo Material

Post by mdenger »

Tony Jackson: Writers

From the singles I have, here are the writers:

Watch your step: Bobby Parker
Bye Bye Baby: Mary Wells
Let me know: Jackson / Raymond / Thompson
You’re My Number One: P. Cowap
Anything Else You want: M. Lewis / E. Phillips
Come On And Stop: Burt Russell (says the single) Bert Berns (says Record Collector)

I have three more Pye singles, but only as promo advance copies, no writers credited.

Other sources:

Shake: Sam Cooke
He Was A Friend Of Mine: Traditionell - additional lyrics by McGuinn
Love Potion No. 9: Leiber / Stoller
Stage Door: Goffin / King
Follow Me: Warren Zevon
Come On And Stop:
You Beat Me To The Punch: Smokey Robinson
Fortune Teller: Bunny Spellman

This might help:
Just Like Me is from Paul Revere & The Raiders
Understanding is a Small Faces’ song.

Many thanks Michael. I will try to fill in the few blanks left.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Michael: I believe Bert Berns and Burt Russell are the same person. If I remember correctly, neither was his real name, but he used various aliases during his career.
