RIC Pickup Analysis

Thanks for posting this. I always like to look at graphs! It looks to me as if the response of the toaster and HB1 are almost identical, except the HB1 is quieter than the toaster. I could be misreading this since I always get confused looking at negative dB (what's the 0 magnitude for dB again?). This is kind of surprising because I thought the pickups in my Cii were stronger than the toaster in my 4001.

I don't know anything about Jazz pickups, though. Is the NJ4 an aftermarket replacement or something stock?

It's actually somewhat just about relativity. The HB1 has a pretty flat response and so does the Toaster, but they cutoff at different points and the HB-1 displays a hinge frequency later on where the Toaster rolls off very smoothly. Whether one is louder in practice or not depends on multiple things, like resistance, which the HB-1 totally beats the Toaster at.

The NJ4 is a 4-string Jazz Bass replacement pickup, made by boutique pickup builder Nordstrand.
