4004Cii coming soon

Post by superdick2112 »

Hello fellow Ric fans - this is my 1st time posting here. I've been a Ric man for over 20 years, and I currently play an '08 4003 JG - I also own basses from Fender, Spector, Hamer, Neo and Musicman. I have an '09 4004Cii MG on layaway, and I can't wait to play it live with the band. Looking forward to sharing Ric stories & info with all of you.

Rich.

Welcome Richard!

Great news!

Another RIC fan finds a 4004!

I've a number of basses, and I'm STILL in the Honeymoon period with my 4004 Blueburst. It is a different animal.
GIVE it time, the MORE I play it, the more I love it. It's a GREAT bass and I'm so happy I have it.

I was really put off when it first arrived, I like my RICS with SUPER THIN NECKS....but it was worth putting in the time and effort to get used to the 4004.

Amazing bass, I hope you like it as well. There is a good number of us 4004 converts here. Post often, post PICTURES when you can and WELCOME again to the forum!

Welcome to the forum! I think you're going to like the 4004Cii, I like mine a lot. It's different that my 4001 & 4003, but very nice...

Apparently they are very different than 4003s. Take two things into account: be able to return it if you must, and give it plenty of time during that grace period to grow on you. All the while be objective and ask yourself if it's something you'll find yourself using a lot in the future--mind you, some people here swear by them. I've never even touched one so between the positive reviews and the negative reviews I'm not sure what to think.

I'm curious to see how it turns out--follow up!

Hiya!

I've got two 4003's - and took the plunge on a 4004L this year.

I totally love it - it just plays and sounds fab. In fact, I've recently been considering losing my older FG 4003, and looking for a cii (an impossible task here in the UK, though).

They are that good. Just give it time....it isn't just a 'new' 4003....it's a different bass...I just love having the best of both worlds! :D :D

Congrats Richard. Welcome to RRF. :)

OK, I have to ask. I've read most of the Model of the Week series, but what's so different about a 4004?

Tone? Feel? Layout of everything?

I think I now will be forced to go re-read the 4004 series stuff in MOTW...

Yes, tone, feel, everything.

It's got dual Humbuckers to start with instead of single coil pickups. The body is made of different woods (4004Cii is walnut sandwiched between maple) so it has different resonances. The body is highly sculpted and feels very thin and light. The fretboard is slightly wider and feels very different than a 4003/4003, but still nice.

Try it! You'll buy it!

Actually, the only thing it really needs is separate volume & tone controls like the 4001/4003 and stereo out. So, mine now does! And WOW what a monster!

Welcome to the forum Richard! :)
You're gonna love that 4004Cii. Your other non Rick basses will see much less playing time.

i would be remiss if i didn't jump in and say, once again, what a fantastic bass my 04 cii is. it is both definitely a rickenbacker bass, and definitely a departure. the body /neck sculpting is fabulous, a very light contoured body with a nice, not too chunky, great feeling neck, and those great growly phat-sounding hb's....hope you like yours as much as i like mine---

I think he means it's already physically with him, he just hasn't paid it off.
