Cheers Jared. You could make me a very poor man! I have contacted Scott regarding these bases. It just so happens I have a friend living in Chicago and i was gonna take a trip out in the summer....I may have to bring my plans forward!
Tell me does it feel the same when you've set upon a change but your heart's in the old times?
Welcome Ronan, I've never seen a 4005 in real life, let alone played one, so I'm not much help here. However, you said that you were concerned with getting duped by someone on ebay,,,, when in doubt concerning authenticity always check back here first, its a major priority here on the forum to expose fakes.

About 14 years ago Scott Jennings brought a 4005 to a guitar show here in Austin. It was an MG lefty.
I'm a lefty and believe me I wanted it bad. He wanted $3000. I couldn't afford it. It was/is the most beautiful bass I've ever seen and played.

When I first saw Genesis in April '72 they were the opening band for It's A Beautiful Day. I got to say, Genesis blew them away. They would not do White Bird and they actually said they were not the band it used to be. What a let down. But Genesis more than made up for it. It's A Beautiful Day should have been the opening act instead! I saw them in a small college gym with only about 500 other poeple. Nice intimate performance.

John, A band with out a bass player in not a band IMHO (unless they have a B-3 player or they are The Doors, then I'll listen to them.) I think that's a new gimmick, no bass player. (Hey this bands got no bass player, listen to this! bla bla bla)
When I say rock, I mean old time Vanilla Fudge, late 60's, early 70's type rock, heavy bluesy gutsy stuff. Just for comparison's sake they completely blew Big Brother and the Holding Company away (actually not a very hard thing to do but they were the first ones to come to mind and I like them also.)
And the only reason I mentioned a P bass is because they got to be about the hardest bass to play especially for a woman, it takes muscles to get a good sound out of those things, to really be able to get around on one I mean, and she didn't use a pick either, no offense to any Go-Go's or Bangles fans here (or pick players because I use them occasionally, or female bass players), but Go-go's they were not. They were not pop in any sense of the word, I was amazed that that band slipped by me back then. They were a hard rock band in the every sense of the word. (now what is that? there is a thread here on that too, haha!)
I have never seen a woman play a P bass before, although I'm sure there were some.
