I don't think "snobbery" is an accurate label. And, being a label, it always risks painting with strokes excessively broad.

Apple just seems to be quite right-brained in its engineering approach, and Win taps the other side.

Both were dreamed up by nerds of the highest order. And we thank them and hope they never get to rule the world.

The snobbery (or whatever label you want) has always been there between Apple and the PC crowd.

I think I may build a hackintosh shortly just for the fun of it. I'm just not sure I want to spend the money doing that.

Ahhh, MacSnobbery comes to the fore ..... and probably justifiably so!

But as one who is still a PC Neanderthal, I'd like to hear more about this virus.

It masquerades as your Microsoft security center. It pops up with trojan virus warnings that look identical to the real thing. It says your firewall has been hijacked and you must click on the box. So you Then you click the box to fix the problem (as you would normally do) and that's it, your stuffed. up until this point you wouldn't even know your PC has been infected.
It then hijacks your desktop, you will be unable to run any real anti virus programs. it even hijacks your internet browser so that if you search on Google/Yahoo for anything to do with WinPC it gives you a list of realistic looking links, and when you click on one, you just get deeper and deeper in the s**t!
Then you'll see a little sheild icon on the bottom taskbar on your screen that just looks like a real anti virus program.
You can open it up and it will give you a list of problems and like a real anti virus, it asks if you want to fix the selected problems. if you click yes, you've just got yourself in even deeper.

To get rid of it you've first got to kill the process tree of the WinPC program and then you've got to delete the WinPC files from your registry, which is both tricky and risky.

But I can help if needed.

I think the next civil war will be between Apple and PC users...

The mouse on my Mac has 3 buttons (if you include the scroll wheel, and it does function as a button).

My opinion? Start with waterboarding and then get really serious....
I have ZERO sympathy or tolerance for that kind of purely malicious stuff.

So far, none of my Unix or Linux systems has had any viruses, the Mac's seem fairly immune too.. Unfortunately, for some of my work I have to use a PC, but I try to limit that as much as possible. I'm pretty sure I actually had that virus a few months back on one of my PC's though. Very nasty. I just re-imaged XP and loaded the backups of the stuff I needed.

Only five?

I won't get into the side panel that has about 12 more buttons.

To be fair, I don't use this mouse. I've installed them for high-end CAD programs like CATIA and Pro-E, among others.

Middle-schoolers dig Macs. L.A. Unified is wired predominantly to Macs using T1 lines for Internet access. That's why I use a Mac laptop. Got nothin' against folks who use PCs. Just thinkin' out loud.......over 'n out. (Goofyfoot)

My Assistant Director also has a touch-screen sketchpad (don't know who makes it) with customizable radio buttons, which replaces most of his keyboard control keys. These are handy when teaching online classes, as you can correct students' work on the fly.
