I used to have a 360/12 but sold it and now am thinking of getting another 12 and have since bought a 620/6 so I was wondering if and what appreciable difference there is in the sound between the various models before I go on the search.
There is no Ric Dist here any longer and as far as I can tell, no retailer that has a range of Rics.

Not a *huge* difference, but there is a sharper attack with the sold-bodies and a bit more sustain.

Me too. I'm kinda back-and-forth between a 620/12 and a 21-fret 360/12 like the one in my avatar.

Can also depend on the pickups. My 330/12 with Toasters (I presume the more modern versions, since it's a 2003) really NAILS the Hard Days Night sound if that is what you're looking for. Takes a compression pedal to amke it sound like Byrds, but then again no one would every buy a guitar that sounded just exactly like that as "natural".

Comparing my 650D/6 to a 330/6: the pickups are of course Humbuckers vs Hi-gains. The 330 has more "jangle" but the 650 has more sustain, and can just about substitute for a F****r which a 330 can't do.

You really have to try them out. NOT the kind of question to ask if buying mail order/blind.

If I were doing it all over again, I would look seriously at the 6xx/12 series for the wider neck, but that just's because I find the 650 easier to play than the 330 in my humble opinion.

If you're using an amp that has a midrange control, remember to crank it for some cool 12 string tone! I like to put mine at 7 when I go through a Fender Twin or Super Rev.

Regarding your original inquiry from a week or so ago.... there was a comparison of several Ric 12 strings that J-Dog did a sound-clip recording of (maybe a year or so ago) to compare and contrast two pickup and three pickup model's tone ... Toasters vs. High Gains. I believe J-Dog's comparisons were all 300 series models.

You might send J-Dog a PM and see if he still has that comparison recording on his hard-drive some where. I thought it was pretty intertesting to hear the subtle differences - and he played the same tune on each Ric.
