Model of the Week 27: The NEW Rickenbacker bass . . .

My wish list is simple. Bring back the 4001S at a reasonable price and I might just take two - one MG and one FG. Use the black vintage knobs but appoint it with forward turning tuners. Offer it with walnut headstock wings and a satin finish.
And please, no artificially aged/yellowed nonsense or other "relic" jazz at ridiculous prices like those other guys do - I will keep the instrument long enough for it to yellow on its own, and am perfectly capable of scraping it up myself, thank you.
Less likely to happen but nevertheless my ultimate RIC dream: A 32" medium scale 4001S in MG w/walnut headstock wings and black volume/tone knobs. make the body and headstcok slightly smaller in relation to the shorter scale, but keep the normal string spacing. Appoint it with pickups that look stock but are actually noise/hum canceling types. Make a toaster p/u that is side by side coils, and a stacked humbucking bridge p/u so as to retain the classic appearance.

Huh. I was hpoing this might prompt the folks at RIC to give a few more hints (however unlikely that may be)...
But it looks like it's turning into just another "wish list" thread...

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

I think all will be mum until a note on the news section of the Ric website.

JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!

Haven't you heard, soon enough that won't happen anymore, thanks to "advances" in finishing technology.DanJ wrote:... I will keep the instrument long enough for it to yellow on its own ...

Oh, it will yellow, but for entirely different reasons than the current ones..I take it that you're against "advances" in finishing technology and are a big fan of the backlog?

Yellow Schmellow! I am a big fan of the new finishing technology.
I'm not a fan of yellowing, checking, peeling or any of that other stuff. I don't like on a classic car, my house, or my guitars.
If someone wants an antique white finish, they should order it that way from the factory...

Only the Fireglo's will yellow slightly over time. None of the other colors are impacted.

If it were up to me I'd let MG yellow, too, as it warms it up very nicely.
Re: Model of the Week 27: The NEW Rickenbacker bass . . .

Re: Model of the Week 27: The NEW Rickenbacker bass . . .

I'm neutral, chances are zip that I'll ever be buying a brand new Ric so my opinion doesn't matter. Glad you could clear up the fireglo ambering thougheric_b wrote:Oh, it will yellow, but for entirely different reasons than the current ones..I take it that you're against "advances" in finishing technology and are a big fan of the backlog?

I would like to see two things if I had this wish,
A 4001 with check binding vWhatever.
A 4001S
