Let Me Introduce Myself......

Post by schlacker »

I felt I needed a little kickstart in my playing & pulled my 350SH (ser#F2-8012) out of mothballs. I must say I'm really enjoying the hell out of her, and learning new things about it I didn't realize, comprehend or maybe appreciate back in `89 or `90 when I bought it. It inspired me to join this forum and after lurking around a couple of days I may be getting GAS for other Rics'.

Cheers!

Welcome MIke!

Don't forget to add your guitar to the register, hopefully with a few choice images!

I have never played a SH model... What does she sound like?

Thanks for the reply. If you don't mind, let me give a little background as to how I got here:
When I first saw the guitar in the shop I of course thought it was gorgeous, & the 3 pickups made it interesting enough for me to buy it. When I got it home & started really getting into it I was put off about the bass & middle pickups being wired together & it was a challenge to bend strings so I didn't think it was good guitar for lead, & after a few weeks I shelved it.

Now, years later, I'd like to think I learned a bit about maintanance & the never-ending quest for tone. I started tinkering with the truss rod adjustments (something I never would have done on my own in those days), & actually using the tone controls (something else I didn't do back in those days).

And I must say I'm very impressed, a beautiful, full tone in the bass/middle position, (almost chime-like - if you follow me), the treble position by itself seems a little thin to my taste but I'm still working with it & it's very easy to play, except the 6th fret may have raised up on the treble side.

I would almost like to say I wish I had realized this guitars' potential years ago...but realizing it at this point in my life is very, very special.

Welcome, Mike! :D

A 350SH, eh? Better keep it well locked up when you're not playing it....... many here would risk incarceration for one of those!!

Welcome, Mike. As you can see it's very easy for us to take off on a tangent :D This time to develop a little eye strain.
